Controlled Substances Information
Weapons and drugs are controlled substances in Elk Point. when you took the ferry from the mainland your person and body were searched for them and all controlled substances were seized. (Thank you Patriot Act!) If you had an unregistered firearm, or drugs you will never see them again (sorry). If you had a registered weapon it will be held in lock down until you apply for a firearms license from the Elk point Police. In order use a firearm of any kind or drugs you need to obtain the corresponding item token through RP. The types of items obtainable are listed below:
There are several distinct types of guns split into three categories: registered guns, police weapons and unregistered guns.
Registered Guns: Symbol --hovering License
These are legal firearms registered upon entering Elk point with the police department. Only people who have no criminal record are allowed to register a gun. The Licenses are given in a single persons name and allow that person to choose between owning a handgun or a pump action shot gun. No semi-automic or automic weapons are legal and weapons can not be modified. The guns can be carried openly or concealed, however owners are considered responsible for their gun, even if it is connected to a crime! Thus they must report a stolen gun immediately in order to avoid possible legal charges. If their weapon is stolen they will not be able to apply for a new registration for two weeks. Guns that are registered and used in a crime are immediately traceable by a ballistics report from police.
When a registered gun is stolen during the RP, transfer your license prim to the person stealing. THey must then report their gun stolen to the police.
Lost or stolen registered guns may be re-purchursed and re-licensed after a waiting period of one month if the person still qualifies.
Police Guns: Symbol -- Hovering Star
These are legal firearms carried only by police. They are obtained upon entering active duty (Ie: no longer a probie) Police guns are checked daily to see if they were fired. All target practice is logged. If a police gun is stolen it must be reported immediately to the commanding officers to avoid possible legal charges and loss of a job!
When a Police gun is stolen during the RP, transfer your star prim to the person stealing.
Unregistered guns Symbols -- Hovering handgun, Hovering shotgun, hovering Military weapon
These guns are illegal to carry, however the benefit of them is they are untraceable if used in a crime. All Unregistered guns are taken before you enter Elk Point for the first time, however no matter how hard city council seems to try and plug the gaps, illegal weapons somehow keep getting in! Thus, through RP you can find and obtain these types of weapons. The type you have depends on the token you have, which can be a handgun, a shotgun, or if you are VERY lucky a military grade weapon. While handguns might be relatively common, military grade is almost impossible to get and will likely take a lot of money and a LOT of connections to buy. While you can only have one registered gun license, and one police gun, you can have as many Unregistered guns as you can get your hands on in character.
These guns can be stolen, traded, sold on the black market the possibilities are endless, however everyone should be aware that if they are arrested with an illegal weapon on them they will have their gun taken by police and be charged with possession fo an illegal weapon!
If an Unregistered gun is stolen during the RP, transfer the correct gun token to the player stealing.
Drugs
Guns
Drugs are also controlled substances in Elk Point. Unlike guns that have registered versions, street drugs are always brought in illegally and will be confiscated upon first arrival. Anyone can set themselves up to sell drugs in Elk Point, however first they will need to find a supplier and a decent way to ship in what they need. Even the Dispensary which ships in medical marijuana must find a way to ship it's goods, until the state legalises Pot. Some substances, like Meth, can be made in the basement of a home, however require a lab to be set up in the RP and are volatile with a specific smell being given off, opening that home up to possible police raids and drug seizes. One thing is certain those who do choose to sell drugs, and indeed buy them, in Elk Point are certainly setting themselves up to join an underworld of crime, the politics of which are ever-shifting and run deep into the cities core. There are currently many drugs to be found around Elk Point, and perhaps more will be added later but common street drugs include: Pot, Herion, Meth, LSD, MDMA, Shrooms, Cocaine, and Narcotics.
